The Staff of Bluehat Studios

We are frequently asked how we chose the name Bluehat Studios. It is the English translation of Leslie's German maiden name Blauhut. Legend has it that Blauhut (Bluehat) was a moniker given to German fisherman because they wore blue rain hats to protect them from the ocean spray.

Leslie Blauhut Chesley - Owner / Photographer: A native Floridian, Leslie graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in Business Administration and later earned an MBA at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, GA. Prior to creating Bluehat Studios Photography in 2004, Leslie directed the Customer Satisfaction program for a Fortune 100 company. Leslie is passionate about her family, her friends, the arts and her community. Leslie is at her creative best when you give her a camera and a studio full of families or children. She has an amazing ability to help people relax in front of the camera.

Tann Chesley - Photographer / Graphic Artist: Tann photographed and developed his first roll of film in 1973. Tann has traveled the world with his camera in hand. Over the years Tann has photographed subjects as varied as the wildlife of Alaska, the temples of Katmandu and Cuban refugees coming ashore on their makeshift rafts. In March of 2007, Tann retired from his corporate position to join Leslie in her studio. In over three decades of creating images, Tann has mastered many types of photography. He continues to attend lectures and seminars to hone his skills and to keep pace with the rapidly changing technology of photography.

Hughes Grogan - Photographer / Graphic Artist: Hughes, a native of North Carolina, joined the Bluehat Studios team in 2007. Hughes is passionate about photography. He developed a love for photography early in life. Hughes started shooting black and white images in high school and worked on the yearbook as a photographer. In college, he took pictures for both the school newspaper and yearbook, graduating from Western Carolina University in 1982 with a degree in graphic design and a concentration in photography. He has worked at several printing companies in production specializing in imaging and color management. Hughes has been married for 25 years and has two beautiful daughters, age 17 and 23.

Lisa M. Henry - Photographer: Lisa was born in Portland, Oregon. Lisa has traveled the world with her camera in hand. She has photographed everything from African wildlife to New York nightlife. Her close association to the modeling and fashion industry keeps her abreast of the latest trends in fashion photography. Lisa is also a Commercial pilot. She is comfortable photographing the runway she just landed on or the runways of the New York fashion district.

Robin Gallant - Photographer: Robin was born and raised in New York. Robin has been taking pictures on and off since she was a child. Professionally, Robin has always worked with people and brings both her love of and skills with working with people to her photography. She has her Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked as a child and family therapist, in the personal growth field and is currently the director of a charitable foundation. Robin loves her friends and family, children, to travel and is particularly passionate about photographing dancers.
